Lyrical Emotions

Several months ago, I realized that I was listening to songs with a particular theme. I was trying to get over some guy and I found myself piecing together a story as I listened. I decided to actually physically put this story together and here is what I got. The lyrics are put together in a sort of montage, collage-ish fashion in order to express an experience that I went through quite a while ago. None of the words are mine, and I'm not sure that they make sense to anyone but me.

Do you believe in love at first sight? I think you do. Every time I look at you, you always look so beautiful. The kind of flawless I wish I could be. You sang me Spanish lullabies. ‘Cause I love the way you call me baby. Watch [me] spin around in [my] highest heels. If you were falling, then I would catch you. If I had someone, I would do anything and never let you feel alone. You are the best one of the best ones. Sometimes I feel so full of love, it just comes spilling out. You make me smile; please stay for a while. You’re the perfect thing to say. And I get to kiss you baby, just because I can.

I can’t stand to feel alone. There are things that I know I don’t have the patience for. I never want to see you unhappy. I thought you’d want the same for me. My heart was unprepared. You’re gone and I’m haunted. You were the song in my head. I don’t believe it. I just want to cry now. Should of known you’d bring me heartache. So long my luckless romance. My back is turned on you. I bet you are just fine.

We all look like we feel. Give anything, but I won’t give up. I keep dreaming you’ll be with me and you’ll never go. I need to hear you say, “I love you.” He and I had something beautiful and so dysfunctional. I let him go because I knew he’d never love me back. I am battle scarred. I’m still reeling from the loss; still a little bit delirious. I am healing, but it’s taking so long.

You and I have something different, and I’m enjoying it cautiously. I fake a smile so he won’t see. Something’s beginning. And when you come around, I’m feeling more at home. I’m so close to being yours. It’s hard to move on. Who was I to make you wait? Just wait and see. I’ve been awake for a while now. You’ve got me feeling like a child now. And you take me the way I am.

I can’t shake the thought of you. But why would I want to? Anything else would’ve been confused. I have loved you all along. Been far away for far too long. He’s the song in the car I keep singing; don’t know why I do. Goodbye my hopeless dream. I forgive you. I’m trying not to think about you.

A story forever told, but never old.
