After Kittyboy tragically died, my mom and little sister began looking for a new kitten. They finally agreed on a tiny calico kitten whom they named Bella. (Yes, they did name our cat after Bella Swan from Twilight.) She was absolutely adorable and attention starved. She had never known her mother and was bottle-fed by a family who found her and her siblings. Bella was afraid of loud noises and she purred loudly as soon as you entered hearing range.
The tiny kitten grew rapidly, and each time I visited my family she was a little bit bigger and a little less friendly. Bella loves my mom. My mom is now her mom. Unlike our last cat, Bella was raised by my mom and my little sister. Kittyboy was friendly to anyone and everyone--Bella is a bit more temperamental.
Bella only likes me when she is in a good mood; other times she can't stand to look at me. She yelps when I pick her up and instead of laying on the couch next to me and letting me rub her, she abandons me and hops onto the next couch to let my mom pet her.
Luckily for Bella, she is entertaining enough to make up for her moodiness. She steals my sister's hair ties and chases them around the house, often carrying them around in her mouth. (Unfortunately, they are basically un-usable afterwards.) Bella will drop everything she is doing and make a mad dash for the printer whenever we print things so that she can stalk the ink cartridges as they move back and forth. When you come up to her and put your hands up in the air and stand on your tippy toes, she will arch her back and jump to the side.
Bella will lay on her back under the bar stools and use her feet to propel herself back and forth through the openings between the legs of the 4 bar stools. I think her fur protects her from rug burn. She will hop onto the bars beneath the dining room chairs and pretend they are some sort of obstacle course as she maneuvers her way through them.
She's fascinating to watch, and I often wonder what's going on through her little brain.
